SENTRICON

Termites cost homeowners upward of $5 billion annually, invading more than 5 million homes each year. Thankfully, by learning to recognize the signs of “conducive conditions” – conditions that termites prefer when invading homes to look for food – you can address the problem before it grows.

Termites are a very tricky pest to get rid of without the help of a professional. If you suspect that you have termites seek professional inspections. At Recon Pest Services, we understand your home is worth protecting. Allow us to come and do an inspection. We can help determine if you have termites and take proper steps to get rid of them, or we can simply protect against those conducive conditions. We have partnered with Sentricon® to help offer a world-class service to keep termites out of your life for good. Whether you have a termite problem right now or want to prevent one from ever happening, the Sentricon® system helps take and keep control of your home.

FAQS

DOES THE SENTRICON® SYSTEM REALLY WORK?

The Sentricon system outsmarts termites at their own game, turning their natural behavior and biology against them. Termites will find the in-ground bait stations as they’re naturally foraging. Here’s where the science of Sentricon comes in. Worker termites will consume the bait and pass it along to others in the colony. They continue to do this before the colony detects it. The proven ability of Sentricon to eliminate colonies is demonstrated by more than 60 scientific studies, including 30 that were published in scientific journals after peer review. No other termite product comes close to this level of scientific documentation.

IF SENTRICON STATIONS ARE PLACED APPROXIMATELY EVERY 10 FEET, CAN’T TERMITES JUST GO BETWEEN THE STATIONS?

Termites find Sentricon stations as part of their natural foraging behavior. Worker termites constantly search for new sources of wood, and as they do, they move farther and farther away from the colony, with their foraging tunnels expanding in all directions, similar to how tree branches spread out from a tree trunk. In addition, Certified Sentricon SpecialistsTM are trained to expertly place Sentricon stations in the most ideal locations on the property.

DOES THE BAIT USED WITH THE SENTRICON SYSTEM ATTRACT TERMITES TO MY HOME?

Recruit® HD termite bait does not attract termites to or near the home. There are no effective methods or treatments known to attract termites to an underground station. However, once termites find the Sentricon station, they will discover Recruit HD has been formulated to be highly palatable to them. This is important because termites have a choice between the bait and the wood in the home. Research found termites preferred the Recruit HD bait nearly 10 times more than wood when offered both simultaneously.

WHICH WORKS BETTER — THE SENTRICON SYSTEM OR LIQUID TREATMENTS?

While conventional liquid barriers are known to directly impact worker termites, it is a false comparison, as the methods of protection used by the Sentricon system and conventional liquid treatments are fundamentally different by design. Faster doesn’t mean better. The delayed action of Sentricon is ultimately more beneficial because a slightly delayed action is necessary to eliminate the colony and, thereby, the termite threat itself. How Sentricon works is why Sentricon works. In comparison, the goal with a conventional liquid treatment is to create a barrier to block termites from the property while leaving the colony active in the area as an ongoing threat. Further, while liquid protection diminishes over time as the insecticide degrades in the soil, the bait used in the Sentricon system is always 100 percent effective based on annual service by a Certified Sentricon Specialist.

SHOULD I GET A CONVENTIONAL LIQUID TREATMENT ALONG WITH THE SENTRICON SYSTEM?

No. The Sentricon system has been scientifically proven as a complete standalone termite solution for virtually any property. In-ground stations are proven protection backed by more than 60 studies, and if termites are active above ground, Recruit® AG FlexPackTM termite bait can begin the colony elimination virtually immediately. There’s no need for a liquid spot treatment, and, in fact, some research indicates that liquid treatments can negatively impact the success of bait.
